Services for Adults

At Detroit East you will find a dedicated professional staff ready to provide a wide variety of services designed to treat a person’s severe, persistent mental illness and/or substance abuse. We also provide the support necessary in order for our clients to lead as healthy and productive a life as possible. Services are provided by psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, case managers, housing and support specialists, and prevention specialists.

Detroit East’s services are provided to all ages—children as young as 4 and their families, youth and adults. Services are provided in the setting which will best meet the person’s needs including at the three service sites (11457 Shoemaker, 6309 Mack, and 3646 Mt. Elliott) or in the community in a person’s own home. 

Services are provided equally without regard to race or national origin, gender or sexual orientation, religion, age, income or other possible deterrents. Detroit East’s facilities are handicapped accessible.  

Treatments include clinical assessments, psychiatric and psychological evaluation; individual and group therapy; medication assessments and maintenance; substance abuse education, treatment, and prevention; case management, health assessments and referrals;  prevocational activities, skillbuilding; daily living and social skill development; housing placement and assistance through HUD and MSHDA; mental health education; and work placement.

Referrals for all services are accepted from the individual or families as well as community resources—schools, churches, human service agencies, the courts or social services.
